Reported by: Van Applegate Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009 @05:16pm EST HAGERSTOWN, MD - Hagerstown is getting a new library, and we now know what it will look like.
The design plans were unveiled in front of the library Wednesday afternoon. The current library will be turned into a brick building, and it will double in size. It will feature bigger spaces for children and teenagers. There will also be more computers for the community and extra study areas. City and state leaders gathered for the big event including Speaker of the House Michael Busch. Busch said, "I think libraries have become more and more apart of communities, and have to connect to the school systems and the business community as well as everything else. So I think a library system that is vibrant, on the cutting edge, really says a lot about a community." They're hoping to break ground on the expanded library next May. The library will temporarily move during construction, but it's not clear where yet. |
