FREDERICK, MD - A street near the Frederick Airport was shut down Sunday for a Soapbox Derby Rally.
27 competitors showed up to race down Bowman Farm Lane.
There were different races based on age and ability. Kids as young as 8 can race in the stock division. It's the masters division that's more difficult.
Brian Carpenter, a soapbox derby racer said, "It's a lay down car. You have a headrest, you can barely see out of it instead of having no headrest and seeing a lot, so it's basically made for experienced drivers."
The Soapbox Derby has been around since 1934.
The world championships are held each July in Ohio.
