In a phone call to NBC25, Judge Boone admitted he was driving under the influence and he caused the accident. He says, "It was a stupid thing to do. I should have known better." Boone also says he's been talking with his friends and family, and says he's seeking alcohol counseling. He acknowledged his mistake, and says, "I should practice what I preach." The accident occurred on N. Prospect Street near North Avenue before 8:00 p.m., according to a 911 dispatcher. A 24-year-old female was taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries, according to the dispatcher. Judge Boone, 67, has served on the Circuit Court since 1997. He is known for his off-the-cuff remarks from the bench. He was once criticized by the Maryland Commission on Judicial Disabilities for referring to three African-American attorneys as "the Supremes." |
