Reported by: Scott Hershberger Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @06:20pm EST CHAMBERSBURG, PA - A member of the Washington County Board of Education was in a Franklin County courtroom Wednesday afternoon.
Ed Forrest says being pulled over by Pennsylvania State Police on the morning of August 16th is certainly not a "proud moment" in his life. On Wednesday, Forrest had his day in court, and he says he's ready to move on. The board member received 12 months of probation for the DUI charge, which will be dismissed with a year of good behavior. Forrest will also participate in Pennsylvania's Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program, designed to keep first-time offenders from entering the criminal justice system. Authorities say Forrest's blood alcohol level was .088 when he was pulled over. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is .08. Forrest says, "Today brings closure, at least, as far as appearing in court. I'll move through the program that I've been put in for probation, and I look forward to moving on with my life and getting back to the business at hand." Forrest looks forward to completing the ARD program and becoming a better person. He says he remains committed to his job, working for the students of Washington County. The charge was Forrest's first and only offense. |
