FREDERICK, MD - The City of Frederick has taken down a controversial Halloween display at Baker Park.
City officials hung the dummies as part of a Halloween display for guided tours through the park.
Frederick NAACP president Guy Djoken said the dummies were disturbing.
Many residents agreed, calling the display racist.
"I saw these manequins hanging from a tree and it immediately brought to mind the pictures of lynchings this country experienced in the 20s and 30s," says Reid Fiester, a Frederick resident.
Frederick city Mayor Jeff Holtzinger says the dummies were taken down and placed around the tree rather than hanging from it for the last night of the guided tours through the park.
