Reported by: Charya Lon Wednesday, Jul 1, 2009 @06:34pm EDT HARPER’S FERRY, WV - A local boy is saving lives, one water well at a time.
Worldwide each day, more than 5,000 kids die from drinking polluted water. This fact inspired eight year old Evan Frank of Harper’s Ferry to start his own fundraising program to provide water wells for African villages. Evan heard about the global issue at Harvest Life Ministries, and decided to do something about it. He started his fundraising by baking and selling brownies, and for his birthday, asked for donations instead of toys. Evan and his parents even hosted a Valentine’s Day dinner and made $2,000. His mother, Misty Frank says her son describes his fundraising as his mission in life. She said, “He said and has always said since then, 'I’m unlimited. It’s unlimited on how many I can. With God’s help, I can do as many as He wants me to do, as long as people are willing to listen, and people are willing to help, it’s unlimited, and you can’t put a price on a life of a child.'” Evan has raised $8,000 in total so far.
