Police say Kayla Whidden was driving towards Inwood on Middleway Pike when she crossed the center line near Rose Hill drive. She crashed into a tow-truck heading towards Charles Town; she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tow truck wasn't injured. The intersection was shut down for about three hours after the accident. Police say it's not the first time they've been called to a wreck at that location. “This is a familiar accident scene for us, partly because the hillside and the intersection right across. It's just an unfortunate tragedy,” said Sgt. Robert Sell of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. It's still not clear why Whidden lost control of her car and crossed the center line. |
