COWANS GAP STATE PARK, PA –
A group of Native Americans are walking from coast to coast and stopped by south central Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon.
"The Longest Walk 2" began in San Francisco in February.
The first walk took place in 1978.
Native Americans participating in the event hope to raise awareness and protect their sacred sites.
"That's what this also encompasses, walking for the next seven generations of our native people and all people of the Earth, and ensuring that we will all have the basic needs that are jeopardized environmentally right now, clean air, clean water, clean Earth," said Sage Deere, who is participating in the walk.
The walkers expect to arrive in Washington, D.C. on July 11th.
They said they will then begin lobbying politicians about their causes.
