Reported by: Nikki Burdine Sunday, May 11, 2008 @05:51pm EDT HAGERSTOWN, MD – It may surprise you what some people are doing to relax and problem solve, and a church wants to share it with you.
A labyrinth is an ancient formation that originated from Greece that allows people to walk and think about their problems. This particular labyrinth was created in 2004. Experts on the practice said despite the popular belief, it’s not a maze, but a circular formation that has no right or wrong way of walking. Labyrinths are a way for people to meditate alone or with friends and family. "One evening I just started walking the labyrinth and. When I started, I was thinking about the problem, and as I walked to the center, I found myself relaxing. And, when I started walking out of the labyrinth, I had some solutions to the problem. I was so amazed that all of this happened just because I was walking in a circular pattern," said Yvonne Pfoutz, Labryinth Organizer. The labyrinth is open the second Sunday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hagerstown. |
