FREDERICK, MD – In the midst of the 5,000-plus runners, one man stood out more than the rest.
His name is Todd Byers, and he ran the marathon without shoes. Todd has been running marathons for decades now and does it all without shoes. He said there are several benefits to running that way. "I try to be careful just like any runner with shoes should be, like running through glass or places where there are lots of nails. I try to be careful no matter what, but I don’t look down any more than I did when I had shoes because if you just kind of keep a good idea and a lot of common sense about where you are going, you don’t have to look at your feet to know where your feet are going to go," said Todd Byers, marathon runner.
Todd is a native of Berkeley Springs, but he now lives in California.
